We worked on our Acceleration of a Falling Object Lab.
The Acceleration of a falling object lab. We discussed how to take our average acceleration equation and change it algebraically so that we could make another useful equation -- the final velocity equation.
Final Velocity \( \vec{v}_f = \vec{v}_i + \vec{a}_{avg} \Delta t \) Period 1 Lab Lab # 3 - Cart on a Ramp Today we took our Ch.1 - Test. Homework Watch the video below and get ready for our Lab #2. We talked about what lab error (uncertainty) is. We discussed how there is no such thing as "human error" in physics laboratory measurements.
Error has to do with the reasons and limitations that keep us from measuring to the precision that we would like. We also talked about the differences between precision and accuracy. The picture below is an illustration of precision vs. accuracy. Today, Period 1 presented their labs to the class. We also watched the powers of 10 video (seen below). Today we discussed how to conduct a lab properly.
We discussed how to measure appropriately based on the precision of our measuring tool. We discussed why and how we graph our data properly. We discussed what things have nothing to do with physics, and what things fall into the physics category.
Period 1 also conducted Lab #1 - Circle Lab. Homework Due 9/10/14 P1: Lab #1 |
